Studio Closure • Take a Hike Day • Color Belt Testing
EKA Family,
Just a quick reminder about our upcoming studio closure, along with two exciting events happening later this month!
Studio Closure: September 2–9
Evolution Kickboxing Academy will be CLOSED from Wednesday, September 2nd through Wednesday, September 9th.
I’ll be taking this time away to help my mother move from the Bay Area to Detroit. She’s in her 70s, and I’ll be driving with her across the country and taking care of her along the way to make sure she gets there safely.
I truly appreciate your understanding and support while I take this time to be there for my family.
The studio will reopen and regular classes will resume Thursday, September 10th.
Take a Hike Day : Iron Mountain Sunset Hike
Sunday, September 27th
We’re taking our next EKA adventure to Iron Mountain for a special Sunset Hike!
We’ll make our way to the top of Iron Mountain and take some time to enjoy the sunset from high above San Diego.
Hike Details:
Sunday, September 27th
Sunset Hike: Meet at Iron Mountain Trailhead at 4:45pm (Start 5:00pm)
Moderate difficulty (3hrs on average to complete)
Approximately 5 miles round trip
A little over 1,000 ft. of elevation gain
The goal: reach the summit and enjoy the sunset together!
Make sure to bring some snacks and such for sunset viewing
MUST bring a headlamp or flashlight for the hike back down
This will be a great opportunity to get outside, challenge ourselves, and enjoy some time together outside the studio.

September Color Belt Testing
September 30th – October 2nd
Our next Color Belt Testing will take place from Wednesday, September 30th through Friday, October 2nd.
This testing cycle will serve as the make-up testing opportunity for students who missed our Summer Testing.
Who will be testing?
Parents will receive an individual email notification letting you know whether your child has earned the opportunity to test.
At EKA, earning the right to test isn't simply about knowing the physical techniques. We look at the student's overall development and progress in their martial arts journey.
A student must demonstrate all three of the following:
1. Forms & Techniques
Have a good understanding of their required forms and techniques.
2. Consistent Effort
Demonstrate consistent effort in class and a genuine desire to continue progressing in their martial arts.
3. Positive Attitude
Show a positive attitude toward themselves, their classmates, and their instructors.
Testing is something that should be earned through preparation, effort, and personal growth. Whether a student is ready to test this cycle or needs more time to prepare, both are important parts of the journey.
Thank you, as always, for being part of the EKA family. I’m looking forward to getting back on the mats with everyone on Thursday, September 10th!
